Thanks to the low voltage requirements of the LED light bulbs and the IP44 rated wiring, Icicle Lights are extremely safe to install. Where electricity is involved, particularly in variable outdoor conditions, there is always an inherent risk; however this is severely lowered by the reduced energy and various safety features of the products.

Long-Lasting Low Voltage LEDs

LED bulbs are a complex, but highly efficient lighting source. Requiring less power than a traditional Rice Bulb - often used in fairy lights - or incandescent bulb, whilst also producing greater light and lasting much longer in the process. LEDs also don't emit any heat, so the bulbs will always stay cool to the touch, ensuring you don't get any nasty surprises when installing or taking them down.

The long life of the bulbs - often reaching upwards of 100,000 hours usage - means that there should be no need to replace them; certainly not in the near future anyway. Each Icicle Light strand is protected by a special fused bulb technology. In essence this allows the whole circuit of bulbs to continue working even if one of them fails, simply by bi-passing the broken LED. So you won't have to go through check every bulb if one goes, like you might on traditional fairy lights.

Weatherproof Cabling

The cabling and bulbs are kept safely out of harms way thanks to the IP44 rated rubber wiring, which in turn is sealed with a double epoxy bond. The IP rating is determined by it's resistance to solid objects - represented by the first figure - and liquids - the latter number. The IP44 rating ensures that the cables are protected against objects as small as 1mm thick as well as water spray from any direction. Therefore you can safely hang your Icicle Lights outdoors in any conditions without fear of them being damaged by the weather.
