Our range of connectible outdoor LED fairy lights are, as the title suggests, produced using a light emitting diode (LED) as the light producing bulbs. The LED is ideally suited for use on outdoor lighting fixtures such as fairy lights, because of its incredible durability and longevity.

How LED Bulbs Work

An LED doesn't work in quite the same way as a typical incandescent bulb. Rather than using a filament the light is produced by a photon that is created when electricity passes through the anode to the cathode (positive - negative), which subsequently causes the electron to drop and complete the process and thus generating light. The colour produced is dependent on the band gap of the material used in creating the positive - negative reaction. It is a complicated procedure that produces incredible results.

Cost Effective Lighting

Their endurance and comparatively low energy levels required to power them make LEDs an exceptionally convenient and cost-effective lighting source. Whilst the initial price of a standard bulb and an LED may be unfavourable, the savings made over time by not having to replace them regularly as well as on electricity bills should prove to be very positive indeed. Less energy usage also has a positive effect on the environment, making LEDs a greener alternative to the standard bulbs used in other fairy lights.
