Rope Light Energy
While a lot of attention has been drawn towards being 'green' and conserving as much energy as possible on a grand scale, it's worth bearing in mind that the small things make a big difference. We've always conscious of leaving the lights on after us, not just to save the planet but also save some money on our bills, and now we're entering an era where energy efficient bulbs aren't just good practice, in some situations they're compulsory. For such extravagance as rope lights, Lights4Fun recommends practicing controlled power usage.
Efficacy & Efficiency Lighting

LEDs are now one of the best options for environmentally-friendly lighting decoration. Modern designs of rope lights run between 18-22 lm/w (lumens per watt), which is an improved power output over the average light bulb, and has a stronger efficacy ratio (the term used to measure illumination levels compared to the amount of energy used). Operating as solid state lighting (SSL), rope lights at L4F come with LEDs as standard, as these SSL designs don't require a filament for their illumination, perfect considering the lights are inaccessible to touch as there's no risk of burn-outs, and as such these models have a longer overall lifespan.
Lighting Energy Saving Tips
Because of their excellent power productivity, you'll get the best out of your LED rope lights by using them where other light sources are sparing - you'll notice the warm glow more in a darker environment. For the extra money-saving, remember to unplug your rope lights from wall sockets rather than just switch them off when not needed. If your rope lights are a permanent or semi-permanent fixture, it might be worth investing in a timer adapter to ensure the lights run to specific hours. This is especially useful if you've a budget to balance.
