Rope Light Technology

The rope light casing is customarily crafted from PVC. This polymer design allows for a tough, durable design for indoor or outdoor usage as well as bendy properties to give the rope design its flex. Traditional rope lights have clear bulbs contained in a coloured tube to give the desired lighting effects. The tube normally has a plain finish but it can be flat or circular or even have ridges in it to displace the light differently. Most rope lights have a standard diameter of 13mm. Traditional rope lights use incandescent bulbs so they will generate heat. Do not use them rolled up.

Fuse Bulb Technology

Beware of cheap rope lights. They are often made in 12 bulb sections so if one bulb goes out the whole section is extinguished. Here at Lights4fun we use a fuse wire system in our rope lights that allows the other bulbs to remain lit if one bulb fails. If a rope light becomes damaged it should be disposed of carefully and responsibly.

LED Rope Light Technology

As you may have seen elsewhere on Lights4Fun, using LED lights is an excellent way of saving energy costs, and similarly makes for an environmentally friendly way of illumination. LED's save up to 90% on energy costs and rope lights are no exception. LED rope lights give off an intense bright light but always stay cool to touch. On average, LED rope lights will last up to six times longer than the normal rice bulb version. Employing the same 240V lighting yet still providing a brilliant shine thanks to the small bulb design.
