Safety Guide

Xmas Tree Lights

View

At Lights4fun we take your safety very seriously and we want you to enjoy your lights for many years to come. We naturally test every product to ensure that it meets the most stringent European Safety standards but we have a few simple recommendations that could help protect you and your loved ones.

Take Care with Installation

It is a sad but sobering fact that more people are injured installing their Christmas lights than through old or faulty products. Please take great care particularly with ladders, and if you are in any doubt get a professional to install your lights for you.

Old Christmas lights can be dangerous. Do not attempt to repair old or defective lights. Take them to your nearest recycling point.

Classic Christmas Lights can Generate Heat

Do not use them indoors near fabrics or furnishings. Keep traditional hot ‘pointy’ fairy lights away from real Christmas trees. The combination of a dry Christmas tree and hot fairy lights is a recipe for disaster. We strongly recommend the use of Low Volatge LED fairy lights for Christmas tree use.

Christmas Lights are Not Toys

Young children are naturally attracted to the colours and twinkle of fairy lights. Lights4fun strongly recommends only the use of Low Volatge LED Lights in your home to protect your loved ones from the risk of fire and electric shock. All our low volatge lights operate at 24v with a minimum current to protect your family and pets.

Read The Instruction Prior To Use

Please spend a few moments reading the instructions for our products before using them. It may help you enormously and protect you from harm.

Above all, take care and have FUN!

A summary of our key safety points:

  1. Always read and follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully. Pay particular attention to the 'intended use' for the lights you are about to use.
  2. Never use 'indoor lights' outside.
  3. We strongly recommend only the use of Low Voltage LED fairy lights for indoor use.
  4. Never insert or remove bulbs when the power is switched on.
  5. We would strongly recommend a safety cut out device or 'circuit breaker' to be used on all Christmas lights.
  6. Consider carefully the positioning of lights, remembering that some Christmas lights generate a considerable amount of heat. Always keep lights clear of decorations and other flammable materials. Remember even on 'Low Voltage' sets, the bulbs can become hot and the transformers generate heat.
  7. Carefully position cables to avoid a 'tripping' hazard.
  8. Take care when using ladders. If in any doubt seek advice from a professional.
  9. Do not leave lights on unattended. Always switch them off when you go to bed and also when you are out of the house.
  10. Do not attempt to use or repair any Christmas lights which have become damaged. Please recycle them at your nearest location.
  11. Do not attempt to modify the wiring in any way on any product.
  12. Do not run wiring under carpets - especially where they could be walked upon and become damaged.
  13. Do not allow Children to play with Christmas lights.
  14. Replace sets of old lights; especially those that are not in perfect working condition.
  15. Above all, take care and have FUN!
