Is your bedroom yearning for that extra touch of sparkle? Perhaps you’ve purchased some gorgeous fairy lights and you’re not sure where to pop them? Check out our super simple DIY fairy light wall, a fantastic and completely unique idea that offers the perfect place to pin up your favourite snaps.
We picked our popular warm white indoor fairy lights for this little DIY project, not only because they’re the perfect length to create a draped effect across a wall, but also because they’re on a tidy clear cable.
Or, if you want a wider choice of colours then have a look at our complete bedroom fairy lights range.
The fairy lights are hung from tiny picture hook nails which are super subtle and will leave minimal marking on your walls, so no need to worry about that!
How to achieve a DIY fairy light wall in under ten minutes
Here’s what you’ll need for your little fairy light project:
- Fairy lights
- A pencil
- A handful of small picture hooks
- Some small pegs for your pictures
Choose a wall in your bedroom or another room in your humble abode that you reckon would look gorgeous adorned with fairy lights. Make sure you have a plug socket near the wall too so that your lovely lights will reach the power supply.
Take a pencil and roughly mark where you would like your picture hooks to be on the wall. It’s best to use a pencil prior to putting the nails in place so that you know where each nail is going to sit accurately. It doesn’t have to be perfect though; the fairy lights are going to be draped and so the nails don’t have to be exactly level with one another. We used six nails for our fairy light wall; two nails at the top of the wall, two in the middle and two at the bottom of the wall, which we think is perfect for our 8 metre fairy lights.
Once you’re happy with where the nails will be, use a hammer to tap the nails lightly into the wall. Next, drape your fairy lights over each nail; they can be as tight or loose as you like.
After you’re pleased with the arrangement of your lights, why not hang some photos using our mini red and cream felt pegs? You could even hang birthday cards, drawings, pictures or notes of paper as an alternative idea.
How do they look? Leave the fairy lights on for a few hours before bed and watch them sparkle in the darkness once you turn them off.
