DIY Hanging Christmas Decoration

Written by: Emily Rayner

If you’re looking to add a bit more of a wow-factor to your interior this year, our DIY ladder is a showstopping display piece for hanging above your Christmas table.

What You Need

2x Christmas Garlands

An antique ladder or branch

Micro fairy lights

Velvet ribbon

Wire ties

1. Secure Your Garland

Start by lining up the ladder or branch with your garlands, ensuring that each garland is facing the same way before securing your garland along the side of the ladder with wire ties. Tease the foliage out as you go along for the perfect rustic finish.

2. Attach the Lights

Intertwine micro lights along each garland for a festive glow, we recommend one set of our warm white lights for each side as they have a discreet green wire and a super handy time function meaning they will automatically illuminate at the same time each evening. Simply set the battery box to the timer before mounting the hanging centrepiece, so there’s no need to climb onto the table to switch them on each time! You can then secure your battery box by resting it on top of the ladder with wire ties and teasing the garland foliage around it to hide from view.

3. Fasten To Ladder

Finally, fasten each end of the ladder with velvet ribbon and hang from hooks in the ceiling. If you’re renting or don’t want to hang hooks, table hangers or command hooks can work just as well. Before you start, make sure to check the maximum weight it can hold!

Get creative this Christmas and come together with the family for a bit of crafting fun!
