Reconnect with nature with woodland inspired garden lighting! The emerging trend of woodland decoration and 'Cottagecore' has recently become a popular choice for many homeowners, with people opting for simpler, sustainable & natural styling.

We have some tips on how to achieve a stripped back look in your garden, whilst incorporating outdoor lighting to bring your display together to create the ultimate woodland retreat at home.

Earthy Tones

Muted greens and earthy tones are perfectly suited to a woodland themed colour palette.

You can incorporate this into your outside space so easily with the addition of greenery and simple decor. Materials such as bamboo, wood and rattan are a great choice for featuring within your garden and will help to achieve a natural appearance. Wooden garden lanterns are ideal for positioning on table tops, patios or decking spaces as a minimal finishing touch. They are so easy to style and their lifelike flickering flame effect is super realistic. If you’re looking for a big project, you can get even more creative! Choose scatter landscape bark chippings to cover bare soil areas and paint your fences, trellises or window ledges. Opt for shades such as forest greens or rich browns for your painting, this will fit with your chosen colour scheme and create the illusion of being within the depths of a woodland setting. Complete the look by staking mini decorative stake lights, such as flowers or mushrooms, into soft ground to bring your earthy display together.

Rustic Features

Accessorising with rustic features will also help to continue with the woodland theme.

Items such as wooden crates, benches or stools are ideal for this, providing a more basic alternative compared to contemporary outdoor furniture and furnishings. Fill your wooden crates with blocks of chopped wood as a feature of your set-up. This is perfect if you have a wood burning fire pit outside, but even if you don’t it’ll create a sense of adventure like you’re camping in the wild! Drape festoon lights on & around the crate as an alternative to a fire pit, to make it into a unique display piece. To uplift the arrangement, choose traditional foliage which can be planted in hanging baskets and window boxes for a pop of colour. If you have a trellis, you can grow ivy along this to fill space across your wall and add to the forest feel. Faux foliage features also work well and spring wreaths & garlands offer a low-maintenance alternative to real greenery. They look just as realistic and can be brought back out year after year!

Garden Lighting

To introduce a cosy feeling to your garden warm white lighting is a must-have!

Perfect for the spring and summer months, our Core Connect Festoons can be draped from walls or hung high above your set-up with ease. The large bulbs radiate an ambient warm white hue and they are an on-trend choice for your home. Alternatively, if you’d prefer lights which can be kept outside all year round, our Pro Connect or Ultimate Connect festoons are incredibly durable & will endure all weather conditions. For the full effect, embellish your plants and shrubs with outdoor fairy lights to add a touch of sparkle. Keep it simplistic by choosing classic fairy lights or for a more detailed look, you can style cute little shaped lights such as butterflies or bees to keep with the nature theme. All that’s left to do is to weave your lights in and around your greenery, before illuminating them all together once it’s gone dark to watch your garden glow!

Woodland Wow Factor!

For the ultimate woodland wow factor, string lights can be wrapped around large trees for a show stopping look.

Depending on how big your tree is, you will need a good length of lights to cover the whole of it sufficiently. Our connectable lights are the perfect solution to this and our Pro Connect range offers the ability to extend up to 200m of string lights to achieve your desired look. Start by wrapping the lights around the bottom of the trunk before making your way up the tree, ensuring the branches are also covered evenly. Warm white lights are always a popular choice, but green fairy lights will also complement your woodland styling. Alternatively, if you want to create an even greater impact, our Twinkly fairy lights allow you to customise and control your lighting from the tap of an app on your smartphone! With the ability to select different animations and effects for your lights, you can also operate the lights up to a distance of 20-30m or you can use voice command for effortless control!
