As our Merchandiser, you will assist the Head of Merchandising in implementing our commercial strategy. Your role will focus on maximising revenue and profit while maintaining a product range that aligns with our customer profiles and business goals. You will leverage your expertise to contribute to SKU and category forecasting, product allocation, and analysis. Additionally, you will help manage space planning, ensuring that our products are optimally positioned in the appropriate quantities at the right time.

Sharing your knowledge and insight with the wider team, you will collaborate with our Finance, Operations, Product and Marketing teams to identify opportunities to drive company growth and profitability. 

The ideal candidate will already be operating at Merchandiser/Senior AM Merchandiser level within a retail business and be an enthusiastic individual with the passion to make an immediate impact not just on their own department but across the entire business.

Responsibilities include:
  • Identify, develop and refine sales and operational style product management to produce reliable and timely sales forecasts for SKUs & categories at market level
  • On-going portfolio reviews, including robust analysis of category & SKU performance to improve product performance, rate of sale and proposition development for each market
  • Create Weekly Sales & Stock Intake plans ensure & optimize availability, intake and stock levels in line with business needs
  • Optimize product & category performance, from demand, markdown, stock, intake and returns
  • Ensure best sellers reach their full potential, identify poor performing lines and over stock issues and make recommendations where necessary to stimulate sales
  • Forecast, analyse and action commercial data to be able to react to trading opportunities / trends in performance to shape the trading plan in season in order to drive the optimum commercial and customer outcome
  • Guide marketing on SKU & category priorities in campaigns, website coverage and work with marketing to ensure suitable offers / inventory are available. Driving, alongside marketing, a campaign orientated calendar in line with the commercial objectives
  • Analysis of category & SKU performance each season to improve product performance, rate of sale and proposition development 
  • Working closely with Supply chain team to identify & manage any risks to the commercial strategy 
  • Monitor competitor websites and market trends, making recommendations to improve proposition
Essential Skills: 
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Merchandising role,  

  • Experience of working with a Far East supply chain, long lead times or high seasonality  

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively 

  • Demonstrated ability to identify key issues and make tough, timely decisions

  • Ability to demonstrate resilience and tenacity to produce results

  • Proven track record in driving demand, optimising sales, and managing gross margin

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to forecast demand accurately and identify trends 

  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and techniques

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, able to challenge and drive results with a track record of success 

  • Advanced-level Excel skills 
Desirable Skills: 
  • Previous experience of Netsuite or PowerBI systems beneficial but not essential 

  • Experience working with a high SKU count (>1000) in a global retail business.
