DIY Festive Hanging Branch
Written by: Grace Agar
As we settle into the festive season, it's the perfect time to cosy up beside the fire and start crafting! Using materials you likely already have, this homemade hanging Christmas decoration will bring a magical touch to a season full of festivities and make a special addition to your dining room décor.
Step 1.
Gather your materials
Begin by gathering a branch, oversized Christmas foliage garland, floristry wire, green micro lights, gold star fairy lights, hessian ribbon and command hooks.
Step 2.
Attach the garland
Place the faux foliage garland along the length of the branch and starting at one end, use floristry wire to securely fasten the garland and branch together. We recommend doing this every 20cm to ensure it stays in place from either side.
Step 3.
Illuminate with fairy lights
Begin to wrap green micro lights around the garland and branch. The delicate green wire will seamlessly blend in with the greenery and bring a soft, subtle glow to your hanging decoration. Add the perfect finishing touch with gold star fairy lights to bring your hanging table decoration together. The flexible wire allows for easy weaving amongst the foliage, whilst the colours of traditional gold and forest green will bring a timeless, festive touch to your dining room.
Step 4.
Hand & display!
Once the garland and fairy lights are secured in place, neatly tuck the battery box out of sight and begin to gently tease the Christmas foliage along the branch until the majority of the branch is covered and you’ve achieved a bountiful look. Hang the finished decoration from hooks in the ceiling or beams above using hessian ribbon. Once secured, switch on the lights and watch your dining space transform with a warm, magical glow, perfect for a season full of hosting.
