Your Guide to Hosting the Perfect Jubilee Garden Party

Written by: Emily Rayner

With the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee fast approaching, it’s the perfect time to connect with loved ones and head outdoors for a celebratory garden party. Whether you’re coming together with friends or family, throwing a summer party is a great way to create magical memories that’ll be cherished forever!

Alfresco Dining

One of the best ways to decorate for a Jubilee garden party is to create a colourful tablescape. A floral wreath is great for indoor decorating, but can be just as stunning when used as a centrepiece for your garden party display. Bringing both natural texture and colour to your tablescape, simply add some outdoor LED candles in the centre for a warm and cosy glow. You can also use household objects like a cake stand to add height to your display by placing your centrepiece on top and then using fairy lights to add a sparkle at all heights. Why not also choose a red, white and blue table runner to add a British touch to the joyous day.

Light it Up

Of course, the best way to create the perfect party atmosphere when the sun is setting is by decorating with lights. Festoon lights are a great choice for draping across fences or around your pergola to add a classic and comforting feel to your garden. Solar lanterns are also a party staple to transform your space both during the day and at night; hang from your pergola or trees and watch your space be transformed by their stunning golden glow when dusk falls.

Keep the magical ambience throughout your garden by adding fairy lights to trees and shrubbery and adding outdoor LED candles to side tables and lanterns to bring your garden to life.

Add Some Music

A key part of hosting any garden party is to have some good background music to set the mood of the event and keep your guests feeling great throughout the day and night. You can create your own playlist or play someone else’s, or even have your friends add their favourite songs to the queue so everyone feels involved. If you have some Twinkly lights, you can also connect them to our Twinkly music device to really impress your guests, as your lights will dance along to your music all night long.

Refresh your Guests

The final thing you need to remember when hosting a Jubilee garden party is refreshments. You may want your guests to bring their own drinks but it’s always nice to provide options of drinks and snacks yourself. Nibbles such as crisps, BBQ food, and sweet treats are always a crowd favourite during the summer months, or go all out and impress your guests with some special Jubilee recipes to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years in style.

A classic summer drink that’s great to batch make for all of your adult guests is Pimms as it requires minimal ingredients and has a fresh fruity taste that’s refreshing on a warm summer’s day. See the super quick and easy recipe below.
