Reindeer FAQs
Our collection of light up reindeer are the perfect way to bring the magic home this festive season, so you can create a breath-taking Christmas display in your garden. Please see below our reindeer FAQs to help answer any queries you may have both before and after welcoming a reindeer into your home and heart this winter.
Here's a handy video demonstration of how to set up your reindeer.
Each of our reindeer also come with an instruction infographic in the box, and you can find it on the product page in the instructions tab.
Why are there reindeer in different voltages?
To increase efficiency, we switched the voltage of our new reindeer to a lower wattage in 2022. Our 24v reindeer are just as bright as the previous 31v reindeer and use less energy to power. Functionality of both the 24v and 31v reindeer are entirely the same.
Please note: accessories used within the two ranges (24v or 31v) will need to match the LED capabilities of your reindeer.
Where can I find the voltage of my reindeer?
Your reindeer voltage can be found on your product packaging at the back of the box in the text section above your barcode. It can also be found on the transformer plug and on the product label attached to the lead wire of the transformer plug. Please retain this product label so as not to void the two-year product guarantee.
The voltage is indicated by a number followed by a 'v' e.g. 24v.
How do I choose the colour on my dual LED reindeer?
Use the button on the front of the transformer plug to select Warm White, White or a mix of the two colours.
Are the reindeer weatherproof?
The reindeer are designed for outdoor use and are IP44 rated with a weatherproof coating. To ensure quality remians throughout the years, we would not recommend leaving them outdoors all year round.
What power source do reindeer use?
We stock a wide range of products, offering a selection of battery powered and plug-in Reindeer.
How do I care for my reindeer?
All our Reindeer are IP44 rated with a weatherproof coating. To lock out moisture and maintain the weatherproof coating, we recommend using a silicone spray twice a year - before and after seasonal use. Ensure your figure is fully dry before packing away and store your reindeer in a dry place when not in use to keep it looking it’s best. We’ve designed our product box so that it can be reused to safely store your reindeer throughout the year.
How does the timer work?
To activate the timer function, hold down the button on the transformer for 3-5 seconds, or until it illuminates green. Your lights will stay on for 6 hours and automatically turn off for 18 hours. They will continuously repeat this cycle.
To de-activate the timer, hold down the button for 3-5 seconds, or until the green light goes off.
Do any of your other lighting products connect to the reindeer?
Unfortunately the reindeer do not connect to any other products at this time.
Will my reindeer withstand exposed windy conditions?
To provide extra safety and stability in harsh weather conditions our larger figures are supplied with guy-ropes and pegs.
Are the bundled reindeer families sold individually?
When used outdoors our reindeer are best suited to being displayed on soft ground and can be secured into position using the ground pegs provided. These pegs haven’t been manufactured to fix into a hard surface.
If displaying on a hard ground, or surface we recommend first securing the reindeer onto a wooden base to keep the figure stable. Larger figures are supplied with guy-ropes to provide extra safety and stability. We recommend placing a weighted object on top of the metal frame to provide some stability e.g. a sandbag.
How do I use the new 5 port T connector?
The connector is compatible with all 24v reindeer. This includes the Harlow, Swinsty and Studley families. Please check the voltage on your reindeer and to ensure they are compatible before purchasing!
The 5 port T connector can power a maximum of 1500 LEDS, this can include up to 5 reindeer. You can find the number of LEDs your reindeer has by visiting the product page of your figure. If you cannot find this information, please contact our Customer Experience team who will be able to help. They can be reached by email hello@lights4fun.co.uk
The connector is weatherproof and suitable for outdoor use and can be used in conjuction with the 6 hour timer. To use the timer, hold down the button on the transformer until it turns green.
If you wish to use the extension cable with the T port connector, simply detach the 8-metre lead wire from the plug and push it into one of the ports on your T port connector. Screw the cap closed and connect the other end to your reindeer. You can do this with each port on the 5 Port T connector if required.
Our 5 port T connector comes with a high-power transformer which is powerful enough to power up to 1500 LEDS, please only use this plug.
Please note: we stock a Dual LED version and a Single LED Version. Your T port connector will need to match the LED capabilities of your reindeer.
Do you have a reindeer extension cable?
What are the pegs and cable tie for?
Cable tie secures the joints of each reindeer and the pegs secure them into ground for extra stability.
Does the plug fit in an outdoor socket?
It will fit into an outdoor socket but may not full close as it uses a transformer, we would recommend using a dry box.
Do you sell spare parts?
Unfortunately we do not sell spare parts at this time. If you require any assistance for a missing or faulty part please contact our customer service team who will be happy to help.
